Self Development this week
Nov 23rd

ipod touch 2.2 update and bad wireless broadbands
Nov 22nd
Successfully updated my ipod touch around 4.00 a.m. The download took about 45 minutes on Celcom Broadband. I tossed my Maxis Broadband service because it gave terrible connectivity. Celcom came in second in terms of bad service compared to Maxis.
I remembered spending one whole night to update my Mac OS X through Maxis broadband and finished updating at 8.30 in the morning. Almost 12 hours.. sheesh… and you call that HSDPA boradband. The status showed HSDPA signal available but at most times nothing appeared on the received packet indicator.
Will also loose the Celcom Broadband soon and maybe hook myself to Streamyx line instead. Experience wise, these Wireless broadband providers fails to deliver their promises and the governing authorities like our Communication and Multimedia Commission should look into this matter.
I’m loosing a lot of my sleeping hours the past few weeks. Either i woke up too early or couldnt get enough eye shut. Last night i end up watching Clone Wars and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan Dvds. Nasib baik esok cuti.
year end appraisal
Nov 20th
Not using the commuter today. Woke up just in time to arrive in office at 8.20 by car. Now its pouring outside. Can’t get to car without drenched wet. So here i’m writing this entry.
Recap
Went to MAMPU forum yesterday and manage to squeeze into Sun Programme later in the afternoon at PICC. Its the third Open Source event held this month. To put it in a nutshell, i manage to get what i want in both events.
My most anticipated slot during the forum was Web Accessibilty. Since the Parliament gazetted Act 685 Person with Disabilities Act 2008, we are obliged to Part IV – Promotion and Development of The Quality of Life and Well Being of Persons with Disabilities where in section 30 covers Access to information, communication and technology by person with disabilities. I guess this is where web accessibility standards comes into place. W3C WAI is a good place to start.
During the Sun event, i attended Colin Charles track – Mysql for developers and Hsenid’s Mysql Scalability. Their tips and best practices are great. Now I’m thinking of migrating our Oracle’s DB to Mysql.

Updating from my ipod
Nov 7th
I’m at the ending session off our retreat and workshop in sepang. The hotel provided free wifi hence giving me opportunity to update this blog.
Will be starting a project with national museum next week and it’s due to finish in 2 months. I’m very excited to be involved and will do my best to make it a success. More updates on the project soon.
And another thing… I’m blogging with my iPod touch. Can’t afford to buy iPhone so bought iPod touch instead. it is 2 generation iPod with 8GB memory.
Now it serves as my companion everywhere… to office (this is my second mp3 player, i enjoy playing music during morning and after work commute), to gym ( i love fast beat songs), to meetings ( where i store schedules and take simple notes), to buy things, and i can VPN To office too.. cool eh?
It also stores my offcie mail and private mail, not forgetting my contact details… i have a few games there but seldom play games on it. My favourite apps is of course safari to browse web pages. It helps a lot to kill time while waiting for the train or plane or a friend who is always late. hehehe
This device complements my PowerBook, and my office’s mac pro.
I’m very happy with these 3 apples. Truly the apples of my eyes.
p/s
if your are bringing your music player to gym, pls avoid these songs in your playlist:
1. Breathless
2. Bernafas dalam Lumpur
