bila kereta kecik jadi offroader
Nov 24th
hari menjadi sejarah bila kereta yang aku bawak naik platform tepi kat parking bay Natural History Museum, Putrajaya.
Kami ada exercise install firewall +VPN Client kat museum2 so hari ni turn putrajaya. Dah la lambat disebabkan termasuk tol Sg Ramal yang ekor kenderaan jam hampir mencecah kawasan tol. Terpaksa U-Turn dan lalu jalan jauh utk sampai Presinct Diplomatik. Dah sampai lokasi yang dituju dengan tak pakai spek bawak keta aku pun masuk parking bay yang agak gelap (lebih-lebih lagi cuaca luar tadi terang mata pun berpinar), dlm keadaan tu tetiba badan keta sebelah depan kanan ternaik kat platform. Adusss…
Dah 3 kali rasanya datang macam mana boleh tak perasan platform tepi ni! Bila keta dah selamat park aku pun turun tengok tayar and bawah keta takut ada leak sebab bunyi kuat bahagian bawah keta mungkin cecah paltform tu skit. Alhamdulillah ok.
Try call member nak check diorang dh sampai belum, tapi keluar recording suara kata akaun aku dinyahaktifkan kerana melebihi had kredit etc. Dah la belum breakfast apa2 memang perosak mood betul. Abis jerr aktiviti trus chow gi Maxis Alamanda bayar utang.
Berita tak baik firewall cum dns cum open vpn server down. Bala betul. Esok kena rescue pulak dgn bantuan vendor. Walau bagaimanapun hati ku bernyanyi esok dapat belajar disaster recovery.
err tajuk tak sama dgn cerita plak entry kali ni..
Groklaw
Nov 1st
terjumpa laman web ini. http://www.groklaw.net/
Its a journalism website covering FOSS litigation news. Currently reading it over breakfast just to get some understanding of it.
hehehe its among the few things i picked up and stumbled upon during further reading over the last FOSS.my.
Setup by Pamela Jones, a paralegal. Groklaw contains the SCO story and of course other things like ODF and DRM.
If we Malaysian have something like this, it would have been wonderful. Althought not specifically done for all high profile cases, well i vote for 1 to be setup for ones that have a major impact on unity, and social well being of people. Not only we’ll get transparent view on what’s going on, we would save ourselves from spin doctors who always managed to spark Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD) among people towards our legal system.
free as ‘Bebas’, not as ‘Percuma’
Oct 27th
Freedom… not from Amnesty this time, of course not SUHAKAM.
Richard M. Stallman (RMS) touched on freedom last sunday at #fossmy , covering freedom 0 to 3
0 Freedom to run the program as you wish.
1 Freedom to study the source code, and change it to make the program do what you wish.
2 Freedom to redistribute and/or republish exact copies. (This is the freedom to help your neighbor.)
3 Freedom to distribute and/or publish copies of your modified versions. (This is the freedom to contribute to your community.)
and lots more.
Brian Aker was there too to spice things up.

Information Is Free … U HAVE 2 KNOW
People Are Not … U HAVE 2 PAY
Contributors Are Priceless … U HAVE 2 BE
I don’t have much to say about #foss.my, except it was a great experience. Congratulations to the organizers.
Reflections of the past
I started reading about free softwares when reading a book, somewhere around 2001, – Debian Unleashed. There i learned about GNU/Hurd, GNU/Linux and of course Debian Gnu/Linux. Debian was my first GNU/Linux distribution. I did my final year project on a Debian box, version 2.2, kernel 2.4, with a Ximian Gnome Desktop. There was no Ubuntu and the best and easiest Linux was Mandrake.
I was self taught, crawling the Net and having only 1 book to learn PHP and MYSQL. That was before frameworks was invented.
Why i love Debian?
Lots of reference available freely on the Net, including thru mailing list and irc and of course plenty of softwares to choose from
That time, Windows equivalent of server class operating system was Windows 2000, put me into much trouble coz most of the reference online needed me to subcribe and pay first regardsless whether it was proven helpful or not.
From learning Debian i learned values like resilient and self reliance.
Thank you Debian, and the Free, Libre, Open Source Community.
For the record I am a Mac OS X user too coz i don’t mind sacrificing my ‘freedom’ to Convenience.
Btw, RMS didn’t cry over spilt teh tarik. (those who attended knows what i mean)
